ABSTRACT

Objective: Exploring the mediating effect of perceived social support between the maternal personality traits and pregnancy-related anxiety. Methods: Singleton pregnant women who underwent antenatal checkups in the obstetrics department of general hospital affiliated to Ningxia Medical University from July to December 2021 were enrolled in this study to investigate perceived social support, pregnancy-related anxiety and conscious personality traits. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the association between the maternal personality traits, perceived social support, and pregnancy-related anxiety, and the mediating effect of perceived social support was analyzed using Bootstrap method. Results: A total of 1 259 subjects were included in the study, of which 170 (13.50%) pregnant women felt introverted. The total score of perceived social support was (46.37±8.38), and 31.45% of pregnant women had high perceived social support. The total score of pregnancy-related anxiety was (21.48±5.53). The score of worry about fetal health was (10.09±3.24), and 368 (29.23%) of pregnant women had pregnancy-related anxiety. Maternal personality traits and pregnancy-related anxiety were negatively correlated (r=-0.076, P<0.05) and positively correlated with perceived social support during pregnancy (r= 0.127, P<0.05). Perceived social support during pregnancy and pregnancy-related anxiety were negatively correlated (r=-0.236, P<0.05). Perceived social support partially mediated the relationship between the maternal personality traits and pregnancy-related anxiety, with a relative effect value of 37.50%. Conclusion: The maternal personality traits, level of perceived social support and pregnancy-related anxiety are all related. Perceived social support could mediate the relationship between the maternal personality traits and pregnancy-related anxiety.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Prenatal stress can cause neurobiological and behavioral defects in offspring; environmental factors play a crucial role in regulating the development of brain and behavioral; this study was designed to test and verify whether an enriched environment can repair learning and memory impairment in offspring rats induced by prenatal stress and to explore its mechanism involving the expression of insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2) and activity-regulated cytoskeletal-associated protein (Arc) in the hippocampus of the offspring.@*METHODS@#Rats were selected to establish a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model during pregnancy. Offspring were weaned on 21st day and housed under either standard or an enriched environment. The learning and memory ability were tested using Morris water maze and Y-maze. The expression of IGF-2 and Arc mRNA and protein were respectively measured by using RT-PCR and Western blotting.@*RESULTS@#There was an elevation in the plasma corticosterone level of rat model of maternal chronic stress during pregnancy. Maternal stress's offspring exposed to an enriched environment could decrease their plasma corticosterone level and improve their weight. The offspring of maternal stress during pregnancy exhibited abnormalities in Morris water maze and Y-maze, which were improved in an enriched environment. The expression of IGF-2, Arc mRNA, and protein in offspring of maternal stress during pregnancy was boosted and some relationships existed between these parameters after being exposed enriched environment.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The learning and memory impairment in offspring of prenatal stress can be rectified by the enriched environment, the mechanism of which is related to the decreasing plasma corticosterone and increasing hippocampal IGF-2 and Arc of offspring rats following maternal chronic stress during pregnancy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the clinical features of critical cases of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19).Methods:The clinical data of nine patients who were diagnosed with critical COVID-19 in Hainan General Hospital from January 21 to February 6, 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. There were eight males and one female enrolled. The patients aged 28 to 77 years old, with an age of (52.9±18.0) years. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction testing for 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was performed with multi-sites synchronize specimens including pharyngeal swab, blood, excrement and urine. The deadline of follow-up was March 4, 2020. The serum levels of leukocyte, C reactive protein, procalcitonin and lactic acid between the improved group (five cases) and the deteriorated group (four cases) were compared. The t test was used for comparison of normally distributed continuous data between groups. Results:Among nine patients, five cases were cured and discharged, three cases died and one case remained in critical condition. All multi-sites specimens of patients in improved group turned negative in 2 to 4 weeks of illness onset, while those of cases in deteriorated group showed sustained viral nucleic acid positive (up to 48th day of illness onset). The white blood cell counts ((13.52±8.24)×10 9/L vs (10.49±4.46)×10 9/L), C reactive protein ((139.71±87.46) mg/L vs (78.60±55.40) mg/L) and procalcitonin ((4.03±2.32) μg/L vs (0.58±0.28) μg/L), lactic acid ((4.14±3.70) mmol/L vs (2.33±0.53) mmol/L) in deteriorated group were all significantly higher than those in improved group ( t=2.908, 5.009, 4.391 and 2.942, respectively, all P<0.01). A rapid rise of serum interleukin-6 level up to 8 500 ng/L was observed in one patient three days prior to death. Conclusion:Among the patients with critical COVID-19, serum levels of inflammatory cytokines of the death cases are higher than those of improved and discharged cases.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Continuous negative pressure drainage (CNPD) is widely used after lower lumbar internal fixation; however, it may cause tremendous blood loss and lead to postoperative hemorrhagic anemia. The present study explored the efficacy and safety of improved intermittent-clamped drainage (ICD) for lower lumbar internal fixation.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>This was a prospective study that included 156 patients with decompression of the spinal canal and internal fixation for the first time from January 2012 to December 2014. The patients were randomly divided into ICD group and CNPD group, and each group had 78 cases. A drainage tube was placed under the deep fascia in all patients within 10 min after the commencement of wound closure. The postoperative drainage amount at different time points, the hemoglobin level, and postoperative complications were recorded and compared between the two groups. Shapiro-Wilk test, independent samples t-test, and Mann-Whitney U-test were used in this study.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The drainage amount was significantly reduced in the ICD group, as compared with the CNPD group (Z = 10.74, P < 0.01). The mean total drainage amount (in ml) of the single-segment and two-segment procedures was significantly greater in the CNPD group than the ICD group (Z = 10.63 and 10.75, respectively; P < 0.01). For the adverse events, there was no significant difference in postoperative temperature, wound problem, and complications between the two groups.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The present study showed a statistically significant reduction in postoperative drainage amount between ICD and CNPD groups, and ICD is an effective, convenient, and safe method for routine use in lower lumbar surgery. It is essential to focus on the effect of clamping drainage with long-segment surgical procedure and complex lumbar disease in the further investigation, as well as the effect of clamping on long-term functional outcomes.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the effect and regulatory mechanism of clock gene Per1 on the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of human oral squamous carcinoma SCC15 cells.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>RNA interference was used to knock down Per1 gene in human oral squamous cell carcinoma SCC15 cell line. Changes of cell proliferation and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry. Transwell assay was carried out to assess cell migration and invasion. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the mRNA expressions of Ki-67, murine double minute 2 (MDM2), c-Myc, p53, Bax, Bcl-2, metalloproteinase (MMP)2, MMP9, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>shRNA-mediated knockdown of Per1 promoted the proliferation, migration and invasion capacity, and inhibited cell apoptosis capacity of SCC15 cells (all P<0.05). Additionally, Per1 knockdown also increased the mRNA expressions of Ki-67, MDM2, Bcl-2, MMP2, and MMP9 and decreased the mRNA expressions of c-Myc, p53, and Bax (all P<0.05); however, the VEGF mRNA expression did not differ significantly after Per1 knockdown (P>0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Clock gene Perl can regulate important tumor-related genes downstream such as Ki-67, MDM2, c-Myc, p53, Bax, Bcl-2, MMP2, and MMP9, and the aberrant expression of Per1 can affect tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion. ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish a method for the simultaneous analysis of 25 trace elements and heavy metals in Jiuwei Xifeng Granules, including Li, Mg, Cd, Sn, Al, Mn, Fe, Ti, V, Co, Zn, Ga, Cr, Ni, Tl, Pb, Cu, As, Be, B, Sb, Ba, Sr, Hg, and Bi. Methods:The samples, digested via microwave, calibrated by internal standard elements, such as Ge and In, with bush branches and leaves as the controlled reference standard, were inlet into ICP-MS to analyze the contents of the 25 trace elements and heavy metals. Results:The detection limits of the 25 elements were in the range of 0.009-16.051 μg/L. The 25 trace elements and heavy metals showed the good linearity in the selected concentration ranges (R2 ≥ 0.999 2), with the average recovery from 70.75% to 107.66%, while their RSD was below ≤ 6.44%. Cr, Sn, Hg, and Pb were not detected in the six batches of samples, and the contents of Tl, Cd, As, and Cu were lower or not detected. Cd ≤ 0.011 μg/g, Cu ≤ 0.373 μg/g, Tl ≤ 0.021 μg/g, As ≤ 0.571 μg/g. Conclusion:The method is simple, rapid, and accurate, and can be used for the quality control of trace elements and heavy metals in Jiuwei-xifeng Granules.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the efficacy of acupuncture on pain after replantation of severed finger.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 80 patients who underwent replantation of severed finger were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each one. The patients in the control group were treated with postoperative routine care of hand surgery, while patients in the observation group, based on the regular treatment, were treated with acupuncture within first 72 h of surgery. The health side of Yanglingquan (GB 34), Xuehai (SP 10), Hegu (LI 4), Houxi (SI 3) were selected and the needles were retained for 30 min. The acupuncture was given for 6 times. The evaluation was performed by using visual analogue scale (VAS) 2 h, 4 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h and 72 h after surgery. The use of analgesics after surgery was recorded in the two groups, and the blood supply and survival rate of severed finger were evaluated.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared between the two groups, the VAS 4 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h and 48 h after surgery in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (all P<0. 05); the use frequency of analgesics in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0. 05); the abnormality rate of blood supply in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0. 05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Acupuncture can significantly relieve postoperative pain of replantation of severed finger, and reduce the occurrence rate of abnormal blood supply, which is worthy of clinical promotion.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of cisplatin and nedaplatin through comparing the effects of synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy of cisplatin and nedaplatin on patients with locally advanced cervical cancers. Methods Clinical data of 54 cases of patients with locally advanced cervical cancers received treatment at our hospital from 2009 to 2011 were analyzed retrospectively.Patients were divided into two groups according to the treatment:group DDP (cisplatin) and group NDP (nedaplatin). The general information,short-term effect,long-term curative effect, and adverse reactions were compared between two groups. Results The general information including gender, age, body mass index (BMI),stages, and pathology had no statistically significant difference between two groups. The response rate (RR)of patients in each group was 100%.The complete remission (CR) rate between groups NDP and DDP had no statistically significant difference.Among the patients ≤60 years old,the CR rate, the survival rate of 1,2,and 3 years, and the median progression-free survival (PFS) had no statistically significant difference.Among the patients > 60 years old,the survival rate of 1,2,and 3 years, and the median PFS had no statistically significant difference, but the CR rate had statistically significant difference. In the non-hematological toxicity, the incidence rate of nausea and vomiting, the effect on renal function in group NDP were obviously lower than those in group DDP.There was no significant difference in liver function damage. In the hematological toxicity, there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence rate of anemia and leukopenia. The incidence rate of decrease of platelet in group NDP was higher than that in group DDP,but it was mainly reflected in the Ⅰ and the Ⅱ level. Conclusions Cisplatin had the same efficacy of concurrent chemoradiotherapy with nedaplatin for the treatment of locally advanced cervical carcinoma with a worse tolerance.
